Itinerary

Day1: Tangier - Chefchaouen

Meet & greet upon arrival in the Tangier Ville, Tangier Med Port or pick up from your accommodation in Tangier. We can also meet and greet you at the Ibn Battuta International Airport. We will head south to the blue-city of Chefchaouen crossing the spectacular Rif Mountains.

Once we arrive in Chefchaouen, you will spend the rest of the day exploring this charming city. Visit the Kasbah that goes back to the 15th century including its museum. Meander around the beautiful streets that are painted in blue. Enjoy the panoramic view by the Ras el-Ma Spring before returning to the Utta el-Hammam Square where you can a drink or a meal while watching the passers-by.

Day2: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

Today, you will head to Fes while having a guided walking tour of the Roman Ruins of Chefchaouen where you can learn about the Roman Civilization and its architecture in the north of Africa. Continue on the track to Meknes, which is a beautiful city that has a rich history going back to the 17th century when the late Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail decided to turn into the Moroccan Versailles. 

You will begin your exploration of Meknes by the impressive Mansour Gate, stretch your legs in the El-Hedim Square and the famous olive market. Visit the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, then drive through the high-walls of the Royal Palace taking us to the Royal Granaries & Stables. You will learn how the Sultan used to look after his 12.000 horses along with they used to store grains.

You will then drive to Fes in the late afternoon through the highway.

Day3: Explore Fes

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Fes, you will spend the first half-day exploring the best of this mysterious city with a local tour guide. We will initially drive uphill where you can take nice shots of the Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes) that goes back to the 7th century. It is the largest car-free district in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so get ready to be taken back to Medieval Times.

Take pictures by the golden gates of the Royal Palace, then stretch your legs in the Mellah (former Jewish Quarter) where you can learn about how the Jews used to live in a peaceful coexistence with Muslims. Now, it is the time to get into the heart of the oldest Fes with its countless labyrinthine alleyways that are shrouded in mystery. You will be meandering around its intricate alleyways while passing-by the Koranic Schools including the Qarawiyyin University, which is the oldest university in the world. Museums, Funduks along with the popular Chouara Tanneries where you can learn about how the best quality of leather is being made using traditional methods.

Day5: Fes - Ifrane - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, we head for the Sahara Desert via the lush Middle Atlas known for the UNESCO preserved cedar forest. A short break will be at the beautiful and clean town of Ifrane, continue to Midelt where we will have lunch before we cross the High Atlas Mountains, Ziz Gorge and a nice stop for photographing the panoramic view of the palm valley of Ziz. We resume our journey through Erfoud and after some time we reach the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi where we will BE welcomed by warm mint tea at the Riad that is located by the feet of the sand dunes. 

You will then go on a camel trek experience to the desert camp that is located in the heart of the Sahara Desert. You will be amazed by the prevalent silence while enjoying a nice dinner. Spend the night in an ensuite tent.

Day6: Merzouga Desert - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Early wake up in the morning to attend the panoramic view of the sunrise over the dunes before getting back to the hotel by camel; taking a shower, we will head east through Jorf, Tinejdad, and Todra Gorges. The Gorges or Canyons are very spectacular and have been popular attractions to both the locals and tourists seeking fresh and cool air or mountain climbing. After lunch, we will resume our journey to the valley of Dades crossing the administrative city of Tinghir. Dinner and breakfast will be served at the hotel.


 

  • Overnight accommodation in Riad Tazawa, Riad Babylon, or similar including dinner & breakfast.
Day7: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

Today, we will drive through the famous road of one thousand Kasbahs including a short pause at the Valley of Roses known for its annual festival of roses. We will resume our journey to the Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) famous for its Taorirt Kasbah that is located at the heart of the city and the Atlas Film Studios where many Hollywood Movies were shot such as Cleopatra, the Kingdom of Heaven and many others. Then, to the Ait Benhaddou built over a hill to stand as a watchful eye for the caravans traversing the Sahara from the High Atlas Mountains. Drive to Marrakech over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m) that we will reach in the late afternoon.

Please note that the process of dropping you off in your accommodation in the old Medinas of Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Rabat, Essaouira…can be in some cases inapplication because of inaccessibilty to the car.
