3-Days Desert Tour From Fes to Merzouga On The Map
Itinerary
Day1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert
Pick up from your hotel/Riad in Fes at 07:30 am (please note we need to get to the desert of Merzouga before the sun sets, so setting off early is highly recommended). Our first stop after driving through the fertile plain around Fes is Ifrane. This charming city is often called the Switzerland version city of Morocco to the extent it was selected the second cleanest city in the world in 2015.
Have an enjoyable time in the cedar forest with the friendly Barbary Macaques before continuing on the track to Midelt where we will have lunch. Cross the spectacular Atlas Mountains to the panoramic plam valley of Ziz where you may want to take memorable pictures. Arrive in the Merzouga desert before the sunset and go on a camel ride experience while enjoying the miraculous views of the sunset.
Get to our luxury desert camp where you will have a nice meal for dinner, then have some entertainment with the staff members as they tend to perform a musical session using drums and castanets. Have a relaxing sleep in your en-suite tent.

Day2: Explore the Desert Area - Ziz Valley - Midelt
Early wake up in the morning, climb up the sand dunes and enjoy the breathtaking view of the sunrise. After having breakfast, we will devote our first half-day to explore the desert area starting with an overview of the traditional system of irrigation known as “Khettaras”. This sophisticated system consists of conveying water from a long distance to the oasis by digging wells and interconnect them with an underground channel.
Enjoy a Gnawa Music that is performed by local inhabitants of Khamlia Village who were brought as slaves. Later, we will head to Midelt through the Ziz Valley where we will spend our second night.

Day3: Midelt - Ifrane - Fes
After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Midelt, we will head to Fes through the UNESCO-listed cedar forest of the Middle-Atlas. Stretch your legs or have a drink in the charming town of Ifrane before continuing on the track to Fes, which we will reach in the afternoon marking the end of our 3-days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour.

Please note that the process of dropping you off in your accommodation in the old Medinas of Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Rabat, Essaouira…can be in some cases inapplicable because of its inaccessibilty to the car. However, we coordinate with the staff members of your Riad/hotel in advance & will come to meet you in a designated location before escorting you to your accommodation.
