Itinerary

Day1: Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes - Volubilis - Fes

Pick up from your accommodation in Casablanca, we will head to the administrative capital of Rabat & home of the king and the royal family. This UNESCO-listed city offers a unique cultural experience. Start our tour by the dramatic Ouddaya Kasbah that offers panoramic views over the everflowing Bou Regreg River, the Atlantic Ocean, and the city of Sale.

Visit the Mohammed V Mausoleum, which is a unique masterpiece of architecture with its marble structure from the outside and intricate Moorish geometric designs from the inside. Adjacent to the Mausoleum is the impressive Hassan Tower, which is shrouded in mystery. Later, we will continue on the track to the 17th century “Versailles of Morocco” Meknes. 

We will begin exploring Meknes by the impressive Bab Mansour, stretch your legs by the olive market, and the El Hedim Square. Drive through the high walls of the Royal Palace before arriving in the granaries and stables. It is in here the late Sultan Moulay Ismail used to look after his 12000 horses.

After lunch, we will drive to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis where you will have a guided walking tour learning about the Roman civilisation that settled in the north of Africa. Resume our journey to the city of Fes, which we will get into by the evening.

Day2: Explore Fes - Ifrane - Midelt

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Fes, we will have a guided tour of this mysterious city with a local tour guide. Start by a drive uphill from where you can have a panoramic view of the Fes el-Bali (oldest Fes) while learning about its history. Take memorable shots by the golden gates of the royal palace, then stretch your legs in the Mellah (former Jewish Quarter). 

Explore the bustling and mysterious Fes el-Bali, which is listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and is the largest car-free district in the world. Pass by the bustling cafes, vibrant Souks, old Koranic Schools including the famous Qurawayyin University, museums, and much more.

In the late afternoon, we will head to Midelt through the charming city of Ifrane, which is often called the Switzerland version city of Morocco. Drive through the cedar forest of the Middle Atlas that hosts a colony of Barbary Macaques.

Day3: Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Midelt, we will resume our journey down to the Sahara desert of Merzouga by having a nice drive through the spectacular high-Atlas Mountains. Take nice shots in the Ziz Valley with its palm trees before getting to the desert in the late afternoon.

Go on a camel ride experience while enjoying the stunning views of the sunset. After getting to our luxury desert camp, you will have a delicious meal for dinner in a romantic setting followed by a session of music performed by local guides using drums and castanets.

Day4: Merzouga Desert - Erfoud - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Early wake up in the morning, attend the sunrise miraculous view over the sand dune. After having a refreshing breakfast, we will resume our desert trip to the Dades Valley passing by the city of Erfooud, which is famous for fossil polishing, and if you wish, we can include a visit to a local factory.

Drive through the palm oasis of Tinejdad, then stretch your legs in the impressive Todra Gorge. These canyons have been an attraction to mountain climbers and nature lovers. After lunch, we will continue on the track to the Dades Valley where we will spend our fourth night.


 

  • Overnight accommodation in Riad Tazawa, Babylon, or similar including dinner & breakfast.
Day5: Dades Valley - Nomad Caves - Skoura - Ouarzazate

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad the Dades Valley, we will head to Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) passing by the Boutaghrar Village where we will visit a nomad family that still lives in cave offering an opportunity to learn about their unique lifestyle.

We will include another short break in the lush valley of roses where we can get enlightened by the local products including rose water, perfumes, soaps, lotions, and much more. Visit the dramatic Amredil Kasbah that goes back to the 17th century before arriving in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon.


 

  • Overnight accommodation in Dar Chamaa, Riad Boucheddour, or similar including dinner & breakfast.
Day6: Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas - Marrakech

Today, our 7 days desert tour from Casablanca will take us to Marrakech after covering the landmarks of Ouarzazate. You may want to include a visit to the Atlas Film Studios that has turned the region into a famous backdrop for shooting international and national films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Sahara, Prince of Persia, and many others.

Later, we will get to the dramatic & UNESCO preserved Ksar of Ait Benhaddou. We will have a guided walking tour around the striking masterpiece of architecture. Its hitsory goes back to the 11th century but came to fame as a former commercial center in the caravan route that used to connect Marrakech with the Sahara Desert & the Atlas Mountains.

We will, then, continue on the track to Marrakech crossing the Atlas Mountains over the Tiz n’Tichka Pass (2260m). Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Day7: Full-Days Exploring Marrakech

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Marrakech, we will spend the day exploring the best of Marrakech with a local tour guide who knows the city like the back of his/her hand. We will drive through the Ville Nouvelle that was built by the French to the botanical gardens of Majorelle, which is an oasis of serenity amidst the bustling Marrakech.

Have a walking tour of the Medina starting from the Koutoubia Mosque, which dominates the horizons of Marrakech. Visit the 15th century Saadian Tombs, the 19th century Bahia Palace, the Dar si Said Museum before getting into the bustling Souks that are organized into sections based on specialty. 

We will end our tour in the Jemaa el-Fna Square, which is the focal point of Marrakech. In the evening, this square turns into a carnival filled with musicians, storytellers, snake-charmers, acrobats, magicians along with food stalls that serve Moroccan delicacies.
