3-Days Desert Tour from Marrakech on the Map
Itinerary
Day1: Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Zagora
After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Marrakech, your private driver/guide will pick you up at around 07:30 from your accommodation before embarking on a journey of a lifetime experience. The 6-days desert tour from Marrakech consists of driving through the high-Atlas Mountains with its panoramic views that offer excellent opportunities for taking memorable pictures. After we cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260), we will be driving down to the heart of the mountains where the impressive Telouet castle can be seen from afar.
Meander around this extravagant castle that’s crumbling but it provides a picture of how proesperous the Galoui family was in the 19th and early 20th century. This family controlled the former caravan route that used to connect Marrakech with the Sahara and this is reason behind the wealth they made. Not far from the castle, you will see the salt mines before getting to the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou village where you will include a guided walking tour around this dramatic masterpiece of architecure.
After lunch, we will continue on the track to Zagora through the spectacular Anti-Atlas Mountains.

Day2: Zagora - Nkob - Alnif - Rissani - Merzouga Desert
Today, we will resume our journey to Merzouga desert driving through the lush palm valley of Draa, then the village of Nkob with its countless Kasbahs (fortresses). Arrive in Rissani and have a tour around the old Ksers of the Tafilalet Oasis before getting to the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum who is the founder of the current dynasty that is ruling Morocco.
When you arrive in the impressive Sahara desert of Erg Chebbi, you will have a warm welcome by the staff members of the Riad/hotel, which is located by the edge of the sand dunes. You many want to stretch your legs in the sand dunes while enjoying the breathtaking view of the sunset before getting back to the Riad/hotel for dinner by the pool or inside the restaurant. Culminate the day with a relaxing sleep in your en-suite room.

Day3: Explore the Desert Area & Camel Trek
After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad by the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, we will spend the first half-day discovering the desert area and unveiling its mysteries. Get an insight into the traditional system of irrigation known as “Khettaras”, which is a sophisticated way of conveying water from long distances to the oasis of Merzouga by digging a series of wells that are interconnected with an unerground channel. Stretch your legs in the oasis and learn about the process of cultivation that the locals use.
Continue on the track to Khamlia through Merzouga village. In Khamlia, you will have an enjoyable time with its inhabitants who were brought as slaves from the Sub-Saharan land. They are known for the spiritual Gnawa Music they perform to visitors. Later, have a complete tour around the sand dunefield of Erg Chebbi that is offering majestic views.Â
You will learn about the unique lifestyle of the nomads before driving back to our hotel/Riad. Go on a camel ride experience through the soft and golden sand dunes while enjoying the miraculous views of the sunset. Get to our luxury desert camp where you will have a delicious meal for dinner before spend the third night under the stars or in your en-suite tent.

Day4: Merzouga Desert - Erfoud - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley
Today, our 6-days desert tour from Marrakech consists of waking up early and attend the majestic view of the sunrise atop the sand dune. After having breakfast under the sunlight and after taking a refreshing shower, we will resume our Marrakech desert trip to the Dades Valley.
Have a short break in the city of Erfoud where you may want to learn about how the process of excavating fossils in the region takes place and our visit to a local fossil factory will provide you with in-depth knowledge. Drive throught Tinejdad to the Todra Gorge (Canyon) where you can stretch your legs while enjoying the breathtaking views. This high cliff has been an attraction to mountain climbers and nature seekers.
We will spend our fourth night in an authentic but comfortable hotel/Riad in the Dades Valley.

Day5: Dades Valley - Nomad Caves - Valley of Roses - Skoura - Ouarzazate
After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in Dades Valley, we will continue on the track to Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) through the Ait Boutghrar Village where we will make a visit to a local nomad family that live in cave. You will learn about how this Berber family has been enduring the hard conditions of life.Â
We will, then, include another stop in the valley of Roses learning about their products that are made of roses before heading to Skoura where we will have a guided tour of the 16th century Amredil Kasbah. Arrive in Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) and spend our fifth night.

Day6: Ouarzazate - Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
The last day in our 6-days Marrakech desert trip will take us to Marrakech through the Atlas Film Studios that has turned the region of Ouarzazate into a flim-making arena. The films that were shot in the region include Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia and many others.
Drive through the high-Atlas Mountains and reach Marrakech in the late afternoon hoping you had a memorable desert experience with us.
